The playoff drought for the Lakers is finally over. The rollercoaster ride of losing seasons, top draft picks and superstar talent led to Los Angeles finally making the playoffs in 2020. As the No. 1 seed, the Lakers will play against the No. 8 seed Portland Trail Blazers in the best-of-seven series.
It was announced over the weekend that the Lakers will wear the 2017 City Edition ‘Black Mamba’ jerseys after the first round of playoffs. But earlier Tuesday, the day of the Lakers’ first playoff game since 2012, it was discovered through Lockervision that during Game vs. the Trial on Aug. 24 the Lakers will wear the Black Mamba uniform with a white heart patch that has Gigi Bryant’s No. 2 on it.
The Lakers decision to wear the Black Mamba uniform approaches the seventh month anniversary since the passing of Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gigi and seven others in a helicopter accident.
The jersey will be available for purchase through Nike’s SNKRS app on Aug. 23.
