Nike is slowly releasing new iterations of Kobe Bryant sneakers, with some carrying a strong influence of the beloved Los Angeles Lakers legend’s personal favorites.
Through Nike’s SNKRS app, the Kobe 5 Protro ‘Bruce Lee’ was released this morning and much to no surprise, sold out instantaneously. The odds are stacked against sneaker fans who try their luck to snag a pair of sneakers through Nike’s dreaded app. Nike has been criticized in recent months for not setting up a system that prohibits scalpers to use bots that purchase every available size of any sneaker that is being released.
The Kobe Bryant Protro 5 ‘Bruce Lee’ is a take on Bryant’s admiration of material art Bruce Lee. The sneaker is dominated by yellow with hints of red and black intersections. Bryant’s signature is printed on the heel in red ink.
When it was released through SNKRS, the Kobe x Bruce Lee was set at $180, but it is currently being sold for over $300 on eBay.
