If you logged on to Instagram this morning, chances are you came across Foot Locker announcing the release of the Nike Air Griffey Max 1. There is an even higher chance that you missed out on the long awaited sneaker since it sold out within the first hour of the release.
This is the third release of the Nike Air Griffey Max 1 since 2009, but it’s the first to cause Foot Locker’s official website to crash.
Rumors started surfacing in late 2020 that the Ken Griffey Jr. inspired sneakers were making a comeback, but a release date was kept mum. Now, the sneakers are in the $240 USD range on resale sites like StockX.
The 2021 iteration combines its predecessors with a predominantly white and black color scheme with hints of Seattle Mariners teal.
This is Griffey’s first product to go live this month, with the second coming up Feb. 20 with popular baseball brand Baseballism.
