After almost 40 years and becoming a synonym for basketball, the Spalding brand ends its association with the NBA, ceasing to produce game balls as of the 2021-2022 season.
It will be Wilson, the brand that is now in charge of manufacturing the balls for the most important basketball league in the world.
Salvatore LaRocca, president of the NBA’s global associations, commented that this new union “brings them back to their roots, as they plan for the future.”
“We were partners for 37 seasons dating back to when Wilson made the first official NBA basketballs in 1946, and we look forward to growing the game of basketball together.”
In commemoration of nearly 4 decades of close collaboration, Spalding put a final batch of official NBA balls up for sale. These are available exclusively in your online store, for a cost of $ 169.99 USD.
