This Fall, The New Air Jordan 5 Shattered Backboard Is Coming
Jordan Brand continues to innovate, with the Air Jordan 5 Shattered Backboard launch confirmed, a retro look first seen on the Air Jordan 1.
The first images show that the designers decided to make constructive modifications to the upper half of the shoe, which would achieve the retro image they are looking for.
A “Sail” shade covers most of the shoe, appears on the toe caps, leather overlays, laces and lower throat.
For their part, the collars and midfoot arrive with a modified look, as a layer of ventilated and tonal mesh has been added on the upper part.
Other highlights include the “Starfish” accents that appear on the Jumpman badges on the tongues, reflective gray backgrounds on the tongues, plus solid black notes on inner linings, eye straps, Jordan logos on the inside of the heel and the back of the midsoles.
In addition, the midsoles feature orange exteriors, and appear alongside speckled gray spikes. The design is completed by a milky background with an orange tint.
The origin of Shattered Backboard
In 2015, Jordan Brand launched the Air Jordan 1 Shattered Backboard, in reference to the dunk with which Michael Jordan destroyed the board during an exhibition game that Nike made during 1985 in Italy; he was wearing an orange t-shirt.
The Air Jordan 5 Shattered Backboard launch is expected to arrive on October 2 on nike.com, for a cost of $ 190 USD.
