A New Crest for Norwich City Comes in 2022

A necessary update for the canaries. Norwich City will have a new crest, starting in June 2022, after having the same one for 50 years.

The club is one with a long history and tradition, but in an ever-changing world, especially in football, they needed something new. Norwich City’s crest was the oldest one in the Premier League, but that’s about to end.

It was back in 1972 when the yellows adopted their current insignia and plenty of things have happened since then. They appointed SomeOne, the agency who worked the crests for Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

While a change in itself, it’s not a drastic one. It goes for a simpler look, with a minimalistic feel. The new crest will keep the classic elements like the canary, the castle, the lion, and the ball on which the canary is standing.

Now those elements have a simpler design, no unnecessary details, and a new distribution with the ball at the center. All this effort after they found different crests used around their stadium and training grounds.

With a crest more fitted to the digital era, they’re changing and standardizing their image inside and outside the club. The crest and the club’s new image will see the light in June 2022 and we’ll see what it means for Norwich City.
