Protected by the amethyst. Lewis Hamilton declares himself ready for the F1 Monaco Grand Prix, wearing a new helmet hand-designed by artist Daniel Arsham.
The Mercedes driver has not had the best season, as he currently occupies sixth position, after finishing fifth in the Spanish Grand Prix.
Now, in the race that will be held in the Principality, Lewis Hamilton was looking for something that would inspire and protect him at the same time, so the work created by Arsham is left as a glove or, in this case, as “helmet on the head”.
“Together we created a racing helmet and sculpture in his signature style, reimagining my helmet as a relic you might find in a museum 1000 years from now,” Hamilton mentioned in his post.
“The helmet was hand painted to resemble the sculptural version I created, which is actually made from Amethyst. This has been a dream project”, explained the artist himself.
About the sculptural work in which this helmet was inspired, it will be sold, and all profits will go directly to the Mission 44 Foundation, created by Lewis Hamilton himself to support, defend and empower young people from underrepresented groups in the UK to be successful.
The Monaco Grand Prix will arrive this May 28 and 29, where we will see if Sir Lewis manages to recover the path that allows him to fight for the podium at the end of the season.
