The capsule, designed by Alessandro Michele, creative director, incorporates the fusion of the emblems of both brands. The first sketches of the collection saw the light for the first time on the Exquisite Gucci fashion catwalk.
Now, we can take a closer look at this adidas x Gucci collection, where the sartorial streetwear creations are expanded from sport-inspired pieces, distinguished by the same kaleidoscopic aesthetic of the show.
For the lookbook, Alessandro Michele envisioned a series of images inspired by archival catalogues, as a cast of characters strike dynamic poses against brightly colored backgrounds alongside sporting accessories, all captured through the lens of Carlijn Jacobs.
With the heritage of both brands codified in a trio of lines, the fixation on stripes plays out in ready-to-wear pieces that echo the silhouettes of sports staples and casual wear.
Meanwhile, the sweatpants feature adidas‘ three white stripes down one leg, while the other is defined by Gucci‘s red and green web. Bold prints portray how motifs like the adidas Trefoil and GG monogram find synergy to amplify two legacies.
Furthermore, conventionally formal pieces like leather heels, suede loafers and silk scarves also enter hybrid territory as they are marked with informal codes.
In this way, we know that the adidas x Gucci collection will go on sale next June 7 in selected stores of both brands, for prices yet to be announced.
